Student leadership is alive and well at WVISD. Junior Korbin Tew stepped in to help lead elementary band classes while Dr. Andrus was out this week with Wildcat Band State Qualifiers. Way to go Korbin!

ALL-STATE SPOTLIGHT Triton and Shelby Lyons, along with Water Valley Band Director David Andrus, are headed to San Antonio this week for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention! Catch them performing as part of the Association of Texas Small School Bands All-State Band this Saturday, February 15th at 9 AM in the Lila Cockrell Theatre at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. 🎶

Our WVISD Staff celebrated our counselor, Christina Colwell with many yummy treats today! Elementary started with Breakfast and our JH/HS created a charcuterie board to snack on throughout the day! A BIG Thank you to our wonderful counselor, Christina Colwell! Thank you for everything you do throughout our school and for our kiddos!

📣📣Shout out to our custodial staff: Mr. Travis and Mr. Richard work hard cleaning our school and helping to keep germs under control. They go above and beyond every day to make sure students have a clean and healthy learning environment. Today a news crew interviewed me and the reporter incorrectly assumed that Mr. Wheeler is the only custodian at Water Valley. We all know how important Travis is to our school and community and I deeply and sincerely regret that this was how the news story was presented. Please join me in celebrating Travis and his long term commitment to Water Valley, the school he is so proud of. We couldn't do it without him! 🎉🎉

Congratulations to our All-West Texas Wildcat Football Selections from San Angelo Standard Times!

Jayden Gomez and Bella Rodriguez have been selected to compete in the FCA Volleyball game this June in Abilene. Jayden will represent the Blue Team, while Bella will play for the Red Team. This is an incredible opportunity for both athletes to showcase their talent and represent Water Valley! Go Ladycats Go!

🎶📣 The Association of Texas Small School Bands is pleased to announce the selection of the 2025 ATSSB All-State Band. More than 10,000 high school band students from across Texas auditioned in twenty-two different regions for a place in their respective all-region bands. The top chairs in each region advanced to one of the five area auditions held this past weekend across the state and only 286 of these students were selected for all-state honors. Triton Lyons,senior, was selected in Euphonium, and Shelby Lyons, junior, was selected in percussion. The ATSSB All-State Bands will meet in rehearsals in San Antonio, Texas, February 12-15, 2025, and will present a concert beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in the Lila Cockrell Theatre of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. This is the first time in Water Valley history that two students made state in the same year. Also competing last Saturday were Toni Lyons, alto clarinet- 4th chair, Hannah Kasner, alto saxophone- 5th chair, Korbin Tew, trombone- 8th chair, and Toby Groover, baritone saxophone- 8th chair. 📣🎶
