Water Valley School is excited to welcome back all students and staff on Tuesday, January 6!
As we begin the Spring 2026 semester, please review the following updates to campus grading guidelines, based on valuable feedback from our stakeholders:
✅ Late Work Guidelines
Late work will not receive higher than a 70.
Late work will be accepted for up to 3 school days only.
📊 Grading Expectations
Teachers will assign at least 2 daily grades per week.
Teachers will assign 2 major grades per grading cycle.
Graded assignments will be returned within one week of the due date.
✏️ Corrections & Retakes
Corrections on daily work are a requirement only for students with that specific IEP accommodation.
For all other students, corrections are at the teacher’s discretion.
Students will have the opportunity to correct tests, but:
Corrections must be completed within one week of the test.
Corrections should take place during class time or tutorials.
Teachers have discretion on how points are awarded.
📖 Additional Updates
1st & 2nd Grade ELAR will include a reading level grade counted as a test grade.
STAAR-tested subjects will include at least one STAAR-type test as a major grade each grading cycle.

Over the past two Fridays, along with a playoff football game and Christmas program, students auditioned for a spot in the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Region 6 All-Region bands. This competition places our students against players of their same instrument in class 1A-4A schools in and around San Angelo, Midland-Odessa, and Abilene metro areas. 1,000s of players compete for a few hundred region spots, and the best 9-12th graders advance to the All-Area round in January.
18 region winners, 3 area advancers, 2 1st chairs
